A/N: First time attempting to write something like this and so I'm trying to develop the story before I write.Hopefully I'll complete this. Enjoy. Prologue | Her slim fingers grazed the strings of the bass. The vibration of the strings gave out gave her a melancholy feeling, a bitter smile on her lips. Setting down the instrument at the corner of the music room, she forced herself to sit at the piano, keys sinking under the pressure from her fingers. The piece was beautiful, compliments were given out to her, yet she never showed a smile when playing the piano. No, Riko had never smiled. *** Peeking from the spot she was standing at, Aiko was mesmerized by Riko’s piece. “But, the feeling is all wrong. Is the rumor true that she doesn’t smile?” She was whispering to herself as she saw Riko sigh, looking out of the window while her hands were still on the grand piano. “Ri-nee does smile.” The sudden voice had made Aiko jump, and turning around, she saw two boys smiling at her. “Sorry to scare you. I’m Takasugi Ichi. He’s my cousin, Tanaka Tsuchi. That music prodigy of our school over there’s my sister, Takasugi Riko.” He was skinny and had a pair of specs resting on the bridge of his nose. “You look like her,” was a sentence that unknowingly uttered out of Aiko, and she was immediately embarrassed. “Of course Ichi looks like Ri-nee. They are twins.” Tsuchi spoke up and Aiko was mesmerized by the boy’s gentle smile. “What did you say about Takasugi-san smiling? She smiles?” “Yes. Ri-nee smiled. But that was a long time ago when that person was still … here. After something happened, she had never smiled at all.” “But Ichi-san, playing music, you have to feel the piece. She’s playing a cheerful song yet it’s all sad.” “Do you have a problem with that miss?” Aiko was shocked when she heard the icy tone. Turning around she saw Riko looking at her with an indifferent look. All that passed through Aiko’s mind was that she’s beautiful. Pretty pair of eye and her long chocolate brown hair flowed down, caressing her waist. However, what spoilt her perfect image was the constant frown, and Aiko could see her eye bags concealed. “No, Takasugi-san.” “Sugihara Aiko right? The girl who just got into this school with a music scholarship. Don’t mess with me.” Without anymore words, Riko left. “Gomen Sugihara-san,” Aiko saw Ichi bowing to her, apologizing profusely. “I’m really sorry. Ri-nee isn’t like this, I swear.” “No, I don’t mind Ichi-san. It’s just that … her talent is a waste.” “You’re wrong Sugihara-san. She’s only like this in practice. Ri-nee is amazing when playing live. And to tell you the truth, she was never allowed to play two of her favourite music instrument.” Aiko saw the bitter smile on Ichi’s lips, and off-handedly caught Tsuchi holding onto the taller boy’s hand, giving it a little squeeze. ‘I think there something more than meets the eyes.’ Labels: multi-chaptered, original story, warning-BL, warning-Gore, yume no freedom |
